OMGoodness! 50% off selected Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney, 3.1 Phillip Lim at The New Guard!

This just in (literally, I only just opened my email, and excitedly clicked on to The New Guard's site to check their sale out), and just had to share.  These are all open in my tabs, and I almost don't want to share them in case they sell out (must not to be selfish, you see).  At the same time it'd probably be a good idea, because I am debating about a pair of Isabel Marant Dicker boots I tried in store this week (shame they're not on sale *sigh* - I was on the waitlist for a pair at Matches Fashion, but they somehow sold out within hours! Boo!), while the gorgeous and lovely Erin (co-owner of TNG) was there, as well as a Dries Van Noten dress (also sadly not on sale)...

I can't believe I have not written about The New Guard until now.  I was uber excited when they first opened a few years ago, as we don't have that many good stores/labels here in Ads.  My excitement grew as they stocked more and more of my favourite labels (which I cannot believe I can now find here!).  Anyway, I digress, here are some of my 'sale picks' (some at 75% off):

Stella McCartney Christine pants now AUD$449 (sadly not in my size, this has been on my wishlist from day one)
Etoile Isabel Marant Calvin perforated leather jacket (seriously considering this, but am telling myself I need to wear my Burberry washed navy leather jacket more)
This Stella McCartney knit top now $399
Acne With You Tape Shirt $175
Etoile Isabel Marant Anderson jacket now $299 (the matching 'top' to the pants I want, which sadly TNG don't have in stock)
Stella McCartney Anemone dress (ooh, so tempting!)
Isabel Marant Manet pants (was a bargain at $169, but not my size)
Etoile Isabel Marant Calvin leather jacket again, but in blue

Isabel Marant Serra pants now $149!!! (seriously! 75% off)

Isabel Marant Vatelle Suede jacket now $865
Isabel Marant Tundra skirt now $249! If I had the models' pins I would definitely snap them up!

(sorry, I didn't get to link each picture to the product page like I usually do, but they're easy to find)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Woo Hoo WILLOW!!!

At long last, Willow has joined the WWW of online shopping!

I am already eyeing a few pieces:

Wish I had nabbed the tweed jacket of the same fabric of this dress I bought, but this one is equally stunning

This dress looks so comfy and easy to throw on and head out the door...
Every season Willow cuts a mean black jacket, this peplum version is no exception.

They don't have the jacket on the shop (as yet), but that's what I am eyeing from this outfit...

The jacket, the pants, the pumps...one of each please!

all pics via willowltd.com

I wish the images on the online shop could be zoomed into more, and I find the layout a bit bland and uninviting (which is often the case with actual designers' stores, why is that?), but at least it's finally here!

INTHEFAMILY20 (designer exclusions apply*)

I just bought myself the Rag & Bone Newbury boots in black leather (saving $100 - not bad!), am hoping they are as comfortable and versatile as all the reviews describe them to be, and that they aren't too small (I bought my usual size as they didn't have the next half size up). With the colder weather coming soon, I hope to get a lot of wear out of them.

Have you bought anything using the code? If so, what did you get?

Recent Buys: Hi-lo, hi-lo, a-shoppin' we will go...

It has been ages since I blogged a 'Recent Buys' post, partly because I have read that often some people view such posts as 'bragging', when that is truly never the case here. Still, I am so excited over some of my 'recent' purchases, I felt compelled to share. This is the first time I have ordered from Asos, and my items have yet to arrive (2 weeks and still no show), so I'm hoping they are as great in real life as I view them online. I am very happy with my Topshop purchase, although the background is 'pinker' than shown in the pic.

As you can probably tell from my purchases, I have a 'problem' that I often cannot decide between two colours, and often buy both (or sometimes more, like my Stella McCartney pumps), especially if they're a good price, and look very versatile/wearable...

Funnily, the most expensive item is the one I am having the most trouble trying to figure out how to wear (the Vanessa Bruno leather & lace jacket below), mostly due its pale sage green colour (tricky with my colouring - which I knew from the outset, but loved it too much to heed to), and also because the lace makes it quite 'girly', so I need to find a way to dress it down and toughen it up. So I would LOVE to hear any suggestions on what to wear it with!

High: Willow grey marle draped top

Low: Asos dresses (yes, I couldn't resist and got them in two colours)

Mid: Benah Kodi cuff (tan and black - no red as yet)

High: Theysken's Theory maxi dress

Low: Asos Silk blouson 'jacket' (again, bought in both colours)

High: Willow red silk draped dress

Low - Oak black asymmetrical tank dress

High: Vanessa Bruno leather & lace jacket (am working hard on trying to figure out what to wear with this)

Here's the jacket worn on the runway, I like that it's teamed with long-sleeved printed blouse, tried it on with such a blouse I have in my wardrobe, alas, it's too 'orange' and not blue-based enough to work.

Low: Asos silk draped dress (I think I love the back as much as the front)

High: Dries Van Noten skirt

Low: Topshop 'kimono'

Mid: 3.1 Phillip Lim lightweight cashmere-mix draped cardigan

Kai-Aakmann draped grey top - had wanted this ages ago, but it sold out before I got the chance to buy, and later found it on a discount site, only to pay $50 in postage, bringing it back to retail price, doh! Ah well, at least I found it!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO MR. BRIGS!!!

Oak NYC - Free Domestic AND International Shipping for Brigadeiro readers!

Oak NYC has been one of my favourite online stores for quite a few years, boasting a carefully and well-selected range of labels and pieces (great range of prices too), I love the way the photograph and present their clothes/looks. With brands/designers like Helmut Lang, Acne, Alexander Wang, Finsk, Pleasure Principle and Kai-Aakman, it is hard to browse this store without adding some/several pieces to one's 'shopping list/wishlist'. Oh, they have great menswear too!

From now until Friday, Oak NYC is offering free Domestic and International Shipping to Brigadeiro readers when you click on the link below and enter the free shipping code. Run, don't walk to this online store!

Brigadeiro's Guide to Melbourne (Shopping/Fashion & Food)

This is not a 'guide' per se, as I am by no means an expert on either, but I am often asked where my favourite places to shop and eat in Melbourne are, so instead of repeatedly emailing the same 'favourites list', I thought I would create a blog post I could refer to and update from time to time (most headings will lead you to a website when clicked on):

Melbourne GPO: I love this building, as it is a refurbished beautiful 150 year old building, that used to be Melbourne's main Post Office. Other stores of interest are: Acne, Fat, Fleur Wood, Gorman, Camper (shoes), Mandarina Duck, Lisa Ho (her last collection SS'10 was so beautiful, hopefully next collection is just as good), Zimmermann and Sass & Bide.

Australia's main department stores: David Jones and Myers can both be found on Bourke St., and both stock Australian & International designers.

Chapel Street, South Yarra/Prahran: is a long street that has many fashion stores, and eateries/cafes, this is a favourite haunt for many, as well as Greville St (off Chapel St) for little boutiques.

Bridge Rd, Richmond: this is the strip for those who like to go to 'outlet stores', I must admit I have not been here since the 1990's.

FAVOURITE PLACES TO...

MoVida: 1 Hosier Ln, MELBOURNE CBD
My favourite place in Melbourne, as you can probably tell from the many times I have been there, great modern tapas place for dinner, almost impossible to book for a table, but you can eat at the tapas bar.

Cumulus Inc
: 45 Flinders Ln, MELBOURNE CBD
Fabulous for breakfast (I love their little baked goods), lunch or dinner

Yu-U: 137 Flinders Ln, MELBOURNE CBD
Great Japanese place for set-lunches or dinner

Don Don's: 321 Swanston St, MELBOURNE CBD
Tiny Japanese place for students, with cheap & quick (I live for their sushi dons!)

St Ali (for coffee/breakfast): 12-14 Yarra Place, STH MELBOURNE

Europa Cake Shop: 81 Acland St., ST KILDA
There are many 'cafes' with European desserts on this street, but this is my favourite for their 'almond croissants' and 'chocolate & plum liquor tarts'.

Shark Fin House
: 131 Little Bourke St., MELBOURNE CBD
My favourite place for Yum Cha.
